He competed in his first ORT's (odor recognition tests, Oct 2021) and he Passed all three tests at only thirteen months old!
For those who don't know about nose work the tests consisted of twelve closed boxes, (2 rows of 6 boxes) only one box contains the odor. The handler does not know which box contains the odor. Your dog must correctly find and indicate the closed box with odor (3 half q-tips scented with either birch, anise or clove) the handler must call "Alert!" When the dog finds the odor. Each odor is tested separately. All boxes are moved to a clean area for each test. The dog must pass all three before they can trial in NACSW trials.
Derby, Windsong's Run for the Roses, competed in the NACSW Level 1 interiors trial in Craig, Colorado July 2022. He passed all four searches to earn this title.

We traveled all the way up to Bismarck, North Dakota this weekend May, 2022) to try our shot at his Companion Dog Excellent title, and sure enough, this boy did it! We gained some experience and we know where we need to improve. His scores were wonderful and he's proving he is capable of playing with the big boys.
